The living room also has 3 doorways. One leading to the hallway to the
bedroom, one leading to the kitchen and the final leading to the dining room.
The semi-antique silk carpet invites you to slip off your shoes and relax in the
overstuffed 1930's chair, or curl up on the sofa and read a book as the light
streams through the windows.
I have created two different styles in this room. The 1930's look of the
sofa and chair is highlighted by the 1930's Pickard lamp. The arts and crafts
look with the English sideboard and the American oak cabinet seems to blend into
the room with little difficulty, accented with a small Handel lamp throwing off
a warm glow onto the Oxblood pottery displayed on top of the sideboard.
The artwork attempts to harmonize both styles, from an 1880's etching to the
1940's pastels. There are also some hand-painted photographs as well as a
painting that a good friend (Dennis) did for me.
